Richard Seager Annual Arts Award

I've recently been a judge on a panel for the Richard Seager Annual Arts Award. The winner will receive a commission to create their winning design for a public access gate for the Butterfly Conservation charity.

All the judges met in Mayfair London last week to decide the shortlist of applicants. Interviews will be held on 21st February.

I will be offering practical help and guidance to the winner as well as the shortlisted applicants (where my field of expertise is relevant). Good luck to all involved!

Kewdos... my work in the Royal Botanic Gardens!

Four of these beauties are permanently installed in the incredibly inspiring Kew Gardens in London. Look out for them and for the rose gate, that's my work too..!

Release The Kraken!

This whopping 2.3 metre wall hanging beastie is on it's way to its new home this week. I'm really happy with how this has come out. This is my work in progress, a photo of the finished piece can be found in my Gallery.

The piece is mounted to a little invention of mine which allows the user to flip large sculptures over for ease of welding from behind. This is proving to save me much time and effort. I call it the Speasel (short for spinning easel).

    Alan Williams Metal Artist

I make sculptural artworks from mostly found and recycled metal.  My creative exploration began in my childhood, making fantastical hybrid creatures using old toys and a tube of glue. Today I make animals and creatures from mostly found and recycled metal; transforming every day objects into detailed, sculptural artworks.
